Royal Copenhagen Blue Fluted Half Lace Dinnerware Used Pieces The Blue Fluted pattern is part of Denmark's cultural heritage. To connoisseurs all over the world it is synonymous with Danish porcelain. Blue Fluted is Royal Copenhagen's very first porcelain dinner service and is to Danish under glaze decorated porcelain what the costly Flora Danica is to Danish over glaze decorated porcelain: a measure of the skill, tradition and craftsmanship at Royal Copenhagen. The delicate and versatile pattern was adopted by the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory when it was founded in 1775. The identification number printed on the bottom of each piece is therefore No. 1. The Blue Fluted service dates from the 1770s and was one of the first patterns to be used when the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory was founded in 1775. Although the pattern originated from China and has been used in a multitude of varieties by porcelain factories all over the world, the Danish Blue Fluted has gained its world fame as the true Blue Fluted. This is due to the fact that in Denmark the pattern is still painted by hand by specially trained craftspeople; a tradition still carried on today by a new generation of porcelain painters – It is worth noting that it takes 1,197 brush strokes to paint a Blue Fluted dinner plate. The Blue Fluted series became popular immediately, has never gone out of fashion, and has been the most sought-after of the Royal Copenhagen dinner services ever since. The Blue Fluted pattern is produced in three different designs: Blue Fluted Plain, Blue Fluted Half Lace and Blue Fluted Full Lace. The Blue Fluted Plain service forms the basis of several other fluted services. It was refined, resulting in first the Blue Fluted Full Lace and then the Blue Fluted Half Lace services. In common with its predecessors, the Blue Fluted Half Lace service is hand-painted in the beautiful blue pattern, with an added dimension: all edges feature an elegant lace border, meticulously decorated with mussels. The service is completed by a decoration of delicate snail shells on all lids. The Blue Fluted pattern offers much more than a dinner service. It also includes a large selection of exciting accessories that will be enjoyed by anyone with an affinity for classic design. All items of Blue Fluted Half Lace are assembled, painted and glazed by hand, and all lids are topped with pretty snail shells. Royal Copenhagen Blue Fluted Half Lace is a popular pattern. Not as exquisite as the Full Lace pattern, but with more decoration then the Blue Fluted Plain. Microwave, dishwasher and oven safe.
