Centennial Plate Series
Royal Copenhagen’s Christmas Plate is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2008. Five carefully
selected plates and plaquettes from the period 1908 to 2008 are
therefore being issued from 2004 to 2008. The last of the selected
plates and the 2008 edition was originally issued in 1908 and shows
the Virgin Mary with the Baby Jesus. The Christian Danish Christmas
celebrates the birth of Jesus, and this motif marked the start of a
whole century of Christmas plates.
